Melchizedek and the High Priests are a Christian Gothic Death Theatre band who perform songs, mimes and opera to music.

 

Formed in 1998, the members are Pauline Fitzgerald, Peter Fitzgerald, Glenyce Hodik and Graham Meredith.

 

They perform stories about pain and suffering, death and anguish, of mankind's mortality because of sin and Evil, with the message of the crucifixion of Christ as being the Ultimate Sufferer. Knowing what it was to suffer, Christ was punished by the God of All Things, in place of us, so that God's anger and Judgement for our Lawlessness and Rebelliousness might not fall on us, but that we be restored to God and healed from death.

The band performs best in dark, ominous settings, with props and costume reminiscent of the Middle Ages. "Shakespeare meets anti-beat Doom Metal" would be one description of the band.
