This album was recorded while two friends, Peter Simon and Mark McClelland, started dabbling in the world of finance and hair-brained money making schemes. How two previously easy-going down to earth guys could change into completely different people almost overnight astounded Warning Will Robinson. Caviar, wine, suits and cocktail parties, shonky business deals......
We were promised fame and fortune by these two guys if we let them manage our band. So be it. Two band press conferences and photos with the local newspaper later, we were booked for the local town outdoor rock event. We should have known better.
We performed a classic punk gig in true Warning Will Robinson style, aggressive and energetic. All the classics. Sex pistols, Ramones, etc - and our own stuff . Great performance. Except that it was to local hillbillies. Zero response from crowd. They were too interested talking about the latest agricultural equipment, and how they all liked each others cousins.
At the end of the gig, our two entrepreneur friends approached us and said "um, sorry guys, the gate takings were down, don't have any cash on us, can we post you a cheque"..... We never saw Mark again after that. Peter went the opposite way and became a New Age hippie, sold all his possessions and lived on a mountain for a year. He recorded a couple of songs with us as a guest vocalist.
This album is dedicated to the two Awareboys and their bizzaro era.
